There's been a lot of very drastic changes in the world this past year due to the highly contagious virus most of us are familiar with. Not everyone is happy about the quarantine and its impact on their lives, however we can all agree that human life is important and must be cherished.
That leads to the following question. How can you protect yourself from the virus in normal conventional ways? Obviously a healthy and fit body will go a long way in strengthening your immune system. Most people are familiar with the basics; Eat well, exercise, etc. But is that all we can do until a vaccine is is readily available and distributed for public use?
There have been a number of recent scientific studies which have had very interesting results concerning resistance to COVID-19.
One very recent scientific study claims that proper Vitamin D supplementation can reduce the risk of ICU admission by 97%. This is a gamechanger when it comes to lessening the risk of death by COVID-19. Generally speaking, people would first have to be admitted to an ICU, if they are close to death. This would mean that the vast majority of people who supplement themselves with Vitamin D3 have a very low risk of dying from COVID-19.
To examine this study more closely; Out of 76 patients who were hospitalized due to acute respiratory infection and viral pneuomonia caused by COVID-19, 50 were supplemented with Vitamin D and the other 26 were not. Out of the 50 supplemented, only one was required admission to the ICU and all of them including the patient in the ICU were later discharged without complications. Out of the 26 patients who were not supplemented with Vitamin D, 13 were were admitted to the ICU, and out of those 13, two died. The remaining 11 were discharged.
Another study documented that 81% of patients with acute respiratory failures due to COVID-19 were Vitamin D deficient. A survival analysis was also conducted to show that after 10 days of hospitalization, patients who were Vitamin D deficient had a 50% mortality rate, while those with normal Vitamin D levels had a 5% mortality rate.
This goes to show the profound impact that Vitamin D3 can have on your body's immune resistance to COVID-19.
High quantities of Vitamin D3 can be found in many types of fish such as: Salmon, Herring, Sardines, Tuna etc. It can also be found in many types of mushrooms, Dairy Milk and Egg Yolk. Ultimately, it's often better to supplement yourself with a nice well-rounded diet consisting of whole foods, however many D3 vitamin pills can also be found.
